Rep. Barry Moore on reconciliation: not one Alabamian has asked for more government spending, tax increases, and IRS agents

Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02) released the following statement after the Senate passed the "Inflation Reduction Act of 2022," a bill that raises taxes on most Americans, increases the price of goods, decreases American competitiveness abroad, and will add $114 in taxpayer debt over the next 10 years.

"As I've travelled throughout my district this month, not one Alabamian has said, "Barry, we need more government spending, tax increases, and IRS agents'," said Moore. "Instead, they want relief from high taxes and regulations, a reprieve from high gas prices sucking up an increasing share of their income, workers for their local businesses, and a federal government serious about securing the border and going after violent criminals. We need more Border Patrol Agents, not IRS bureaucrats! Even socialist Senator Bernie Sanders admitted over the weekend that this farce of a bill does little to nothing to decrease inflation, but as usual, despite pleas from hurting Americans, the Leftist elites that run the city think "Washington knows best'."

The "Inflation Reduction Act," which will come to the floor of the House of Representatives on Friday, August 12, raises taxes on American companies by $313 billion and spends $45 billion on IRS enforcement which will include the hiring of more than 80,000 new IRS employees.
