Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) visited Las Vegas High School to celebrate the students of Mariachi Joya. The school's mariachi group was recently named "The Nation's Premier Mariachi Ensemble", and the senator presented the students with certificates of recognition to honor their work and contributions to the Las Vegas Latino community. Senator Cortez Masto has been a longtime supporter of the band, and the event recognized Mariachi Joya's many accomplishments.

"I so appreciated the chance to visit Las Vegas High today to meet with one of my favorite groups, Mariachi Joya!" said Senator Cortez Masto. "I grew up listening to Mariachi music, and I'm so proud that one of the largest mariachi programs in the country is right here in my home town. I'll always support programs that introduce students to the arts and celebrate Nevada's incredible diversity and culture."
