Congressmen Meet With The National Parties On The Third Day Of Discussions On The Island About The Decolonization Project

The resident commissioner, Jenniffer González Colón, and the president of the Natural Resources Committee of the United States House of Representatives, Raúl Grijalva, met this morning with the local chapters of both national parties, as part of the discussion of the draft of the Puerto Rico Status Act.

"These meetings that the Committee has coordinated with the Democratic Party of Puerto Rico and the Republican Party of Puerto Rico have been productive, where important elements have been discussed in terms of citizenship and both expressed their support for the draft of the project," said the resident commissioner, who added that the endorsement by the two national parties in Puerto Rico for the draft is added to the endorsement by the PNP and the Dignity Project.

The third day of the congressional visit began with a meeting with the leadership of the Democratic Party in Puerto Rico, including its president Charlie Rodríguez, the mayor of San Juan Miguel Romero, the Shadow Delegate María "Mayita" Meléndez and others.

The second meeting was at the headquarters of the Republican Party of Puerto Rico where they were received by its president Ángel Cintrón, the National Committeewoman Zoraida Fonalledas, the National Committeeman and former Governor Luis Fortuño, and members of the local board.

The visit continues this afternoon with a forum at the Convention Center where there will be three panels of six speakers each. The public had to register at the link provided by the Committee on its website in order to attend the forum.
