The Inflation Reduction Act

Date: Aug. 12, 2022

The Inflation Reduction Act is on its way to President Biden's desk.

I couldn't be more excited about this legislation. It's going to transform American energy, invest in good-paying jobs, lower costs for American families, and confront the climate crisis. I know it took a whole lot of time and effort, but we've finally gotten it done.

Even better, this is just the latest piece of major legislation Democrats have gotten passed. With the CHIPS Act, the PACT Act, and now the IRA passed, Congress has invested billions in American families, American manufacturing, and American energy.

I can't say it enough: this bill is huge. The IRA will lower energy bills, reduce our carbon emissions by 40% by 2030, put billions into creating clean manufacturing jobs, and invest $60 billion to confront environmental injustice.

To me, the IRA's passage shows us why it's so important to keep doing the work, even in the face of adversity. Most Republicans have fought tooth and nail to block any major legislation from reaching President Biden's desk. But after months of negotiations, we're about to make the largest climate investment in our country's history.

It shows the importance of re-electing Democrats, too. I'll always look for bipartisan solutions no matter who's in charge, but Democrats have led the way on this bill, and we need to keep leading the way after November.

This legislation is going to have a massive impact all across the country, and I'm so proud to be a part of its passage.

I'm in Congress because I believe legislation can positively impact millions of Americans.

I'm so excited for this investment in America.
