Hoeven Statement on North Dakota's Intervention to Block Anti-oil and Gas Lawsuit

Senator John Hoeven released the following statement today after the D.C. District Court approved a motion by North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley to intervene in a lawsuit seeking to invalidate the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) oil and gas lease sales held in June, including for lands in North Dakota. The lawsuit is an effort by environmental groups to stifle oil and gas production on federal lands. As a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Hoeven has repeatedly pushed back on the Biden administration's harmful energy agenda and has worked to ensure the U.S. remains energy secure.

"Our nation is experiencing an energy crisis and it's simply unacceptable that the Biden administration and environmentalists are working to block access to our abundant, taxpayer owned energy reserves. We need to unleash more oil and gas production on federal lands immediately to help increase production and provide meaningful price relief for American consumers and to help lower inflation," said Hoeven. "We appreciate Attorney General Drew Wrigley pushing back against these efforts and will continue to push the Biden administration to take the handcuffs off domestic energy production and restore our nation's energy independence."
