Pressley's Statement on the House Passage of the Inflation Reduction Act

Location: Boston, MA

Today, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), issued the following statement on the House's passage of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which now heads to President Biden's desk for his signature.

"Today, I voted in support of the Inflation Reduction Act, which is a necessary and long-overdue bill to help provide relief for our communities amidst the layered, overlapping crises in the Massachusetts 7th and beyond. This legislation makes critical investments to address climate change and enacts policies to lower the cost of prescription drugs, and the bill's passage represents the culmination of more than 18 months of advocacy nationwide.

"Our work continues to build a more just and equitable world. I remain deeply committed to advancing critical measures blocked in the Senate to enact paid leave, housing justice, disability justice, immigration reform, environmental justice, universal pre-K, and more. We owe it to our workers and families to continue fighting for these necessary policies, and I intend to do just that.

"I applaud all of the advocates who have pressed alongside us to get this bill across the finish line--we would not be here today if it weren't for them--and I look forward to seeing President Biden sign it into law."
