Rep. Ilhan Omar issued the following statement on the House vote on the Inflation Reduction Act.

"I am proud that, after months of negotiating and advocating for a bold bill that delivers real solutions to Minnesotans, today we have the opportunity to pass legislation that meets this moment. This is a major victory to the progressive movement, who for over a year now have pushed for a bold bill that addresses the major issues facing our country like climate change and healthcare.

"I remain concerned with certain provisions in the bill, including the expansion of fossil fuel leasing, the removal of a tax on wealthy private equity speculators and a cap on insulin prices for private insurers.

"But the Inflation Reduction Act will create an estimated 10,000 additional jobs for Minnesotans, and drive over $6.6 billion of investment to our state. It is the most historic climate bill in U.S. history, reducing carbon emissions by roughly 40 percent by 2030. It includes a much needed tax on corporate buybacks of their own stocks, averts a benefits cliff by extending health care subsidies for 3 years, and allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices. I am proud to vote for it."
