Today, Rep. Brenda L. Lawrence (MI-14) voted to pass H.R. 8294, a package of six government funding bills, which focuses on helping families and communities across the country. The transformative investments in this legislation will lower the cost of living, create good-paying American jobs, lift up working families, and support small businesses.

"I always say that you need to follow the money to see what someone cares about, and this bill reflects the fact that our goal is to help American families and communities," said Rep. Lawrence. "As Vice Chair of the House Committee on Appropriations, I am proud to vote for this appropriations minibus that contains a number of provisions that are of critical importance to Michiganders. Taken together, the investments in this package continue to reverse decades of disinvestment by helping the middle class, working families, small businesses, and the vulnerable who work hard."

Rep. Lawrence championed funding for eight community projects in this House-passed legislation that will directly benefit the residents of Michigan's 14th District. These include:

$3,452,972 for Hamtramck Water System Improvements
$1,600,000 for Royal Oak Township Water System Improvements
$1,400,000 for the Sanctum House Facility Acquisition
$100,000 for the Grosse Pointe Shoreline
$750,000 for the Southfield Home Improvement Program
$3,920,000 for the Joe Louis Greenway
$600,000 for Invest Detroit
$546,152 for the Webster Community Center

"I am incredibly pleased to secure just over $12.3 million in Community Project Funding in this bill that I know will have a profound impact on Michigan's 14th District," said Rep. Lawrence said. "These investments support underserved areas, improve our aging water infrastructure, and foster economic development, making a real difference in the lives of so many in our community. I am proud to have fought for funding that will make our community healthier, safer, stronger, and even more resilient."
