Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Women

Congressman Kildee, Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, today voted for two pieces of legislation to ensure Michiganders can make their own health care decisions and reaffirm the right of Americans to freely travel throughout the country to access reproductive care.

Congressman Kildee voted for two bills that passed the U.S. House of Representatives, including:

The Women's Health Protection Act to guarantee the right to access an abortion and the right of an abortion provider to deliver abortion services, free from medically unnecessary restrictions that interfere with a patient's choice or the doctor-patient relationship.
The Ensuring Women's Right to Reproductive Freedom Act to stop the criminalizing, fining or suing of women who exercise their constitutional right to travel across state lines to obtain an abortion.

"The fundamental freedom to decide if and when to start a family is under attack following the Supreme Court's reprehensible decision to overturn Roe," Congressman Kildee said. "Women and their doctors should be making health care decisions, not politicians or judges. I urge the Senate to take up this critical legislation. In Congress, I will keep fighting to protect every Michigander's right to make their own reproductive health decisions."
