With Far-Left Violence Rising, Moolenaar Votes To Protect Supreme Court Justices and Their Families

Press Release

Date: June 14, 2022

Today, bipartisan legislation to provide protection for U.S. Supreme Court Justices and their families passed the House. Congressman Moolenaar had repeatedly called for Speaker Pelosi to bring the legislation to the floor and he voted for it.

"I voted for this legislation because it will keep Supreme Court Justices and their families safe while protecting their legal rulings from threats and intimidation. The past month of protests outside justices' homes by far-left protesters has been nothing more than an intimidation campaign meant to influence the outcome of a Supreme Court case. Then, this past week, a man showed up outside a justice's home and said he was there to assassinate the justice. Clearly, quick action is needed. President Biden should not wait and he should sign this bill into law immediately," said Congressman John Moolenaar.

The Supreme Court Police Parity Act passed the Senate unanimously on May 9. After a month delay in the House, Speaker Pelosi finally put it up for a vote following a man being arrested outside of Justice Kavanaugh's home and admitting he was there to assassinate him.

Last month, liberal activists began protesting outside justices homes after a draft of a Supreme Court ruling was leaked to the media. According to federal law, it is illegal to protest outside of a justice's home with the intent of influencing a case. However, Attorney General Merrick Garland has not acted to enforce the law.
