REP. NEGUSE MEETS WITH FEMA ADMINISTRATOR TO DISCUSS PROGRESS ON THE MARSHALL FIRE RECOVERY

Earlier this week, Congressman Joe Neguse (CO-02), alongside local leaders from Boulder County, Louisville, and Superior met with Federal Management Agency Administrator Deanne Chriswell. The group met as part of a roundtable discussion on the progress of the Marshall Fire recovery, six months after the flames destroyed over 1,000 homes and businesses in the affected neighborhoods.

Neguse worked alongside FEMA immediately following the disaster to secure a Major Disaster Declaration for the wildfire, particularly advocating for the inclusion of Individual Assistance in the Declaration -- this program provides direct assistance to individuals who lost their homes. Also, partnering with FEMA and Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper, Neguse worked to ensure that the federal government would cover the costs of removing foundations, basements, and burned vehicles damaged in the Marshall fire, a rare coverage.

"We are incredibly grateful for FEMA's willingness to assist our community [in the aftermath of the Marshall Fire] and their expeditious approval of these requests. We must ensure that every homeowner and business owner has the support and recovery funds they need to rebuild and recover." said Congressman Neguse.
