Hoeven Working to Ensure Timely USPS Delivery in Minot Region

Statement

Senator John Hoeven today held a roundtable in Minot with U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Minnesota/North Dakota District Manager Anthony Williams, USPS Acting Manager of Operations Shannon Fiddler and Minot Mayor Tom Ross. Today's discussion focused on delayed postal delivery in the region and efforts to ensure USPS continues to address service issues and workforce needs to support timely delivery of medication, packages, newspapers and first-class mail. The senator asked USPS to openly communicate with residents regarding impacted delivery.

"The U.S. Postal Service provides an important service, and that's why we've repeatedly pressed USPS leadership to address delivery concerns not only in the Minot area, but around the state," said Hoeven. "Today's discussion was about working with USPS to address concerns that we have heard as well as to improve the agency's operations, so that we have the reliable service North Dakotans need."

At the roundtable, the senator also highlighted the Postal Service Reform Act, which he supported and was signed into law earlier this year. This legislation helps the USPS become more fiscally responsible, while also improving the agency's operations to ensure sustainable, high-quality postal service. The legislation calls for standard delivery services six days a week. Hoeven has been working throughout his time in the Senate to ensure the USPS provides quality service throughout North Dakota and will continue pressing postal leadership for solutions.
