Barr: Democrats Poison CHIPS with Big Government Tax, Borrow, and Spend Agenda

Today, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) voted against Congressional Democrats' Socialist agenda and blasted them for poisoning the bipartisan CHIPS Act. Following his vote, Congressman Barr released this statement:

"Despite the U.S. economy slipping into a recession following the second consecutive quarter of negative gross domestic product (GDP) growth, Democrat leaders in Congress are tripling down on their failed economic agenda by readying a massive tax, borrow, and spend package. Kentuckians are on track to incur over $5,000 in higher prices this year because of inflation. Borrowing more, spending more, and piling on one of the largest tax increases in American history will only exacerbate the inflation crisis that is crushing middle-class families and small businesses.

"As the Representative for a Congressional District home to the largest Toyota manufacturing plant in North America, I strongly support boosting domestic production of semiconductors. That's why I voted to establish the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) for America Act and repeatedly advocated for a clean vote on funding for the CHIPS Act. Although I still support a focused and targeted bill to incentivize more domestic production of semiconductors, I cannot vote for an agenda that will send the American economy off a cliff as Kentuckians struggle to pay their bills, fill up their gas tanks, buy groceries, and keep their businesses running."
