Congressman Gonzalez Votes for Bipartisan Legislation Prioritizing Essential Workers and Communities

This week, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) voted to pass three bipartisan pieces of legislation to support South Texans, federal firefighters, and Transportation Security Administration agents across the country.

"It is time for Congress to start working in a bipartisan manner and deliver results for the American people," stated Congressman Gonzalez. "I proudly cosponsored bills to reinforce our commitment to take care of our essential workers and support communities across the nation. I urge my Senate colleagues to pass these important pieces of legislation to be signed into law immediately."

Congressman Gonzalez supported and cosponsored the following legislation that was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives:

* H.R. 2499, the Federal Firefighters Fairness Act of 2022, which would improve access to injury and illness benefits for federal firefighters by establishing an automatic presumption of work-related illnesses for federal firefighters.
* H.R. 903, the Rights for the Transportation Security Administration Workforce Act, which would elevate TSA agents to a Title 5 personnel system and be subject to collective bargaining negotiations, advancements in pay, and disciplinary appeals rights.
* H.R. 5129, the Community Services Block Grant Modernization Act of 2022, which would reauthorize the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program for 10 years and makes significant improvements to the program such as: increasing the annual funding, expanding income eligibility, increasing accountability and performance requirements, and supports new and innovative approaches to reducing poverty.
