Statement

Date: March 18, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) announced that the 2022 Congressional Art Competition for Kentucky's Second District is officially underway.

Congressman Guthrie along with other Members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor the Congressional Art Competition for high school students for their respective congressional districts.

"I'm excited to announce the start of the 2022 Congressional Art Competition for Kentucky's Second District. All high school students are encouraged to apply and express their artistic abilities in this fun, nationwide competition. I would like to thank students, educators, and art judges for making last year's competition a success, and I look forward to seeing the artworks from incredibly talented students in our communities from this year's Congressional Art Competition," said Guthrie.

The artworks are judged by an independent panel of art professors from colleges and universities in Kentucky's Second District. The overall winner's artwork from each participating congressional district will be featured in the U.S. Capitol. In past Congressional Art Competitions, the overall winner also receives two roundtrip airline tickets to attend the Congressional Art Competition reception in Washington, D.C. More information on prizes will be announced in the near future on the Congressional Institute's website. The second and third place overall winners' artworks will be displayed in Congressman Guthrie's District office.

The Congressional Art Competition for Kentucky's Second District also includes a "Facebook Favorite" competition to allow the public to choose their favorite artwork. The public can vote on their favorite artworks from April 18-22, 2022, on Congressman Guthrie's official Facebook page. The "Facebook Favorite" winner's artwork will be featured in Congressman Guthrie's District office.
