Rep. Pfluger Introduces Bill to Defund Dhs Disinformation Governance Board

Press Release

Tuesday, U.S. Representative August Pfluger (TX-11) and Rep. Ronny Jackson (TX-13) introduced legislation to defund the Biden Administration's DHS "Disinformation Governance Board.'

Rep. August Pfluger (TX-11): "The news that the Biden Administration wants to control the speech of American citizens is beyond alarming. My bill will completely defund the board to reaffirm that the government does not get to determine what is true or false. The Department of Homeland Security should be focused on securing the border and preventing terrorist attacks, not fact-checking social media and censoring Americans."

Rep. Ronny Jackson (TX-13): "It is no coincidence that the Biden Administration rolled out its "Disinformation Governance Board" in the same week that Elon Musk vowed to protect free speech on Twitter. This Administration has shown it will go to any length to silence voices it does not agree with, and it must be stopped. I am proud to be taking the lead with Congressman Pfluger to protect Americans' First Amendment rights, and to prevent taxpayer dollars from funding a Communist-style agency, which would make a radical government official the arbiter of truth in this country."

The bill is co-sponsored by Representatives Jody Hice (GA-10), Dan Bishop (NC-09), Bill Posey (Fl-08), Beth Van Duyne (TX-24), Dan Crenshaw (TX-02), David McKinley (WV-01), Vern Buchanan (FL-16), Mary Miller (IL-15), Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14), Madison Cawthorn (NC-11), Daniel Webster (FL-11), Stephanie Bice (OK-05), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02), Lauren Boebert (CO-03), Glenn Grothman (WI-06), Ashley Hinson (IA-01), and Adrian Smith (NE-03).
