Leader Rodgers Urges Biden to Prioritize Lowering Costs for Struggling Americans

House Energy and Commerce Committee Republican Leader Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement on President Biden's proposed budget.

"This budget falls short of meeting the priorities of the moment. Inflation is at a 40-year high. American families are paying a $3,500 yearly inflation tax as they struggle to afford everything from cars, groceries, and new clothes, to heating their homes. Our priority should be helping ease this burden, not more radical spending that will make inflation and surging costs on everyday life worse.

"We should all be asking: "if the federal government wants to spend more money, can the American people afford it?' The truth is, this is not a budget American families can afford, and doubles down on radical rush-to-green policies that will continue to deprive people of reliable, affordable energy. To lower costs for people across the board, we need to flip the switch on American energy by strengthening our energy security, improving our critical supply chains, and easing the regulatory burdens imposed on the industry under this administration. As we continue to learn more about this budget and the administration's priorities, I urge President Biden and my Democratic colleagues to join Republicans and put Americans first by unleashing American energy so we can win the future."
