President Bush Must Tell the Truth About Record Job Losses

Date: July 18, 2003
Location: Burlington, IA

This President said his tax giveaways would create jobs.  All Americans can plainly see that's just not true.
"On the issue of jobs, and on so many other issues, the problem is not just the wrong direction in which George Bush has led; it is that he has mis-led us time and time again. He says one thing and does another, and Iowans and all Americans are paying the price.

President Bush has told us that his economic program came down to one word jobs.  Since he said that we have lost three quarters of a million jobs.   We are suffering from a jobs gap because George Bush has not been straight with the American people.

This President said he would grow the economy and we have had the weakest economic growth in more than half a century.
This President said he would create jobs but George W Bush has the worst record on jobs of any President since Herbert Hoover.   It's time for President Bush to face the truth and tell the truth about America's economy.  It's time for him to admit his tax cuts aren't working and change course.

I am running for President to put jobs back at the top of our national agenda.

People are looking to do an honest day's job and they are looking for a President who will be honest with them when it comes to jobs.  I'm running for President to put Americans back to work, and put America back on track.
