U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement marking the 10th anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program:

"Ten years ago when President Barack Obama established DACA, he made it clear that our friends, neighbors, coworkers, and valued members of our communities, who came to this country as young people, are just as American as we are. While DACA made a difference in countless lives -- empowering a new generation of hard-working men and women -- the program has never been a guarantee. DACA continues to endure bad-faith attacks from Republican-led states and Trump-installed judges, while Democrats remain steadfast in our support to protect those who are undocumented with the respect and dignity they deserve. Only Congressional action can provide permanent protections to keep these Americans in the only home they have ever known. The fight to deliver peace of mind to our immigrant communities continues and I'm proud to stand with them -- today and everyday -- to advance protections."
