Supreme Court Upheld the Authority of the Three Branches of Government

Press Release

Date: June 30, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) released the following statement after the Supreme Court announced their decision for West Virginia v EPA.

"For too long the executive branch has allowed bureaucratic agencies to carry forth its agenda instead of working with Congress," said Burgess. "Today's decision guts the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from the overreaching powers it has taken over the last decades."

"Through the Clean Air Act, Congress never intended to give the EPA such broad authority. Nevertheless, the EPA slowly worked to erode state and local authority in the name of environmental justice and a green new deal agenda. Further, this decision stops the radical climate change agenda the Biden Administration is attempting to sneak through the EPA. American energy is produced far cleaner and has allowed us to reduce our carbon footprint. Instead of working against our energy producers during this energy crisis, we must work together."
