Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Immigration

Today, Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) marked the 10-year anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program with a call to action for Senate to pass a pathway to citizenship for our nation's Dreamers. As Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Dr. Ruiz helped advocate for H.R. 6, the Dream and Promise Act, which would allow Dreamers and individuals with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) to contribute fully to the country they love and know to be their home by providing a pathway to citizenship. H.R. 6 passed the House last year with bipartisan support and awaits consideration in the Senate.

"On the tenth anniversary of the DACA program, I recognize the invaluable contributions that DACA recipients and their families bring to our country. As Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, I will continue to work con puño y fuerza in our fight for comprehensive immigration reform. Enough is enough, and now is the time for 10 Senate Republicans to get on board with the bipartisan Dream and Promise Act that we passed out of the House. We must modernize our broken immigration system, keep families together, strengthen our economy, provide pathways to citizenship, and live up to our nation's values of hope, opportunity, and the American dream," said Dr. Raul Ruiz.

Earlier today, Dr. Ruiz joined a bipartisan, bicameral group of lawmakers along with Dreamers and advocates to call for action. Photos and video footage are available here.
