Rep. Aguilar's Report Act Passes The House Of Representatives

Statement

Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar's Reporting Efficiently to Proper Officials in Response to Terrorism (REPORT) Act passed the House of Representatives unanimously. This legislation was introduced in the wake of the deadly attack on the US Capitol on January 6th to would ensure lawmakers and law enforcement agencies are better prepared to prevent, detect and respond to future incidents of domestic terrorism.

"I first introduced this bill after the 2015 attack in San Bernardino, which tragically took the lives of 14 people and wounded 22 more of our neighbors," Rep. Aguilar said. "Since then, we have seen dozens of domestic terrorism incidents, including the deadly assault on our Capitol. My legislation ensures the Executive Branch provides Congress with accurate intelligence so we can pass laws that help stop future attacks."

The REPORT Act requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to collaborate with the FBI, Office of the US Attorney General and National Counterterrorism Center to submit a report to Congress in the wake of domestic terror incidents and recommend actions to prevent future terror incidents.
