Issues: Elections

Today, Sarah Palin released a new radio ad promoting her candidacy for Congress in Alaska.

"Our Don Young served the great state of Alaska in Congress for almost half a century -- 49 years in the 49th state. Of course, there's no way anybody's ever going to match that. But I can tell you one thing for darn sure: I'm in this for the long haul," Palin says in the ad. "I'm not here to climb some political ladder, the way that career politicians do. I'm going to see this thing through and earn your support."

The ad, which began airing today statewide, emphasizes Palin's long history of serving Alaskans -- first as a member of the Wasilla City Council and Mayor of Wasilla, then as Chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission before becoming the ninth governor and first female governor of Alaska -- and notes that she will put Alaska first as she continues Don Young's legacy of fighting for and protecting the interests of Alaska.

"I'm going to defend Alaskan interests for as long as you will have me as your representative," Palin concludes.
