Today, Sarah Palin welcomed the endorsement of Rick Perry, former governor of Texas and Secretary of Energy under President Donald Trump.

"As someone who has always believed deeply in the goal of American energy independence, it means a lot to me to receive Gov. Perry's endorsement," Palin said.

"Rick Perry presided over a remarkable American energy renaissance during the Trump administration because he understood that we can't just leave our God-given abundance of resources locked up in the ground -- we need to develop those resources to benefit the American people," Palin added. "Alaska's enormous energy reserves are indispensable to the goal of energy independence, and developing those resources will bring greater prosperity to Alaska and the rest of the country."

Perry praised Palin for introducing the phrase "drill, baby, drill" into the American political lexicon, calling her "the biggest champion for domestic energy" of the past two decades.

"Sadly, the current administration is doing everything in its power to undo the gains we worked so hard to achieve, with the predictable result that Americans are now suffering from record-high gas prices while our own government stands in the way of developing our own abundant natural resources," Perry said in his endorsement. "Sarah Palin will stand up to Joe Biden's foolish crusade against American oil and gas, and she will fight to open up ANWR and get American energy back on the market. We need Sarah Palin's leadership in Congress, now more than ever."
