Sarah Palin Responds to "Predictable" Endorsement by State GOP

Press Release

Date: April 22, 2022
Location: Fairbanks, Alaska
Issues: Elections

Following the vote of the GOP Central Committee to issue an endorsement in the race to fill the seat of the late U.S. Rep. Don Young on the eve of the state convention, Sarah Palin issued the following statement:

"Most of the delegates hadn't even arrived in Fairbanks yet before news arrived that a backroom deal had already been struck for an endorsement from state party politicos picking a Democrat scion -- who has supported, contributed to, voted for, and rooted on hard-core Democrats and RINOs -- as the Party's standard bearer. This predictable action of the Party establishment proves that the old boys' network is alive and well in Alaska, but the only endorsement that matters is the one from the Alaskan people on June 11.

"While this act of the central committee, before committee meetings and the candidate forum, is a slap in the face of convention delegates, it's also a betrayal of all Alaskans who believe in fair play and an equal playing field. It's this type of elitism that I'll go to Washington to combat. Establishment players who put party machinations ahead of the people are the reason Washington is broken. I built a reputation for going rogue against the establishment, but it's only because I have always represented the very best of Alaska -- hard working people who believe in God and country and who reject backroom deals that benefit the few.

"At the convention this weekend, I look forward to meeting the rank and file members of our Party who share with me their ideals and expectations, and who listen to my ideas about how we stand together for Alaskans against Washington elites. From there, I look forward to continuing a strong connection with the great Alaskans whom I seek to serve. I'm asking the outstanding people in the greatest state in America to join me in restoring Alaska to its greatest potential once again."
