Golden Statement on Texas School Shooting

Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) released the following statement following the school shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

"Yesterday's shooting in Texas is heartbreaking. It's incomprehensible that anyone would do something like this, but to do it to children is truly a special kind of sickness, one I can only describe as purely evil.

"Right now there are many elected officials pointing fingers and making recriminations against one another. I won't be joining in that behavior as I don't believe it does anything to bring about any kind of change, nor can it heal the pain of the families of these children.

"In the days ahead, as more information about this shooting becomes clear, I will be talking with my colleagues and with my constituents about what could have been done to stop it and what realistic policies could be considered to help prevent another senseless act of violence like this from happening again in the future." - Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02)
