Rep. Duncan Responds to Leaked Dobbs v. Jackson Draft

A leaked draft decision of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization case revealed the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade.

"There is no denying that the Roe v. Wade decision was "egregiously wrong from the start,' and while this leaked document is not the final word on this monumental case, I am hopeful the Dobbs v. Jackson draft reflects the decision of the Supreme Court and will lead to reversing Roe. The overturning of Roe is lifesaving and would be the most pro-child ruling to ever come from the Court and the most significant civil rights victory in modern history," said Congressman Jeff Duncan. "Abortion is an abomination and a scourge on our nation. Over 60 million babies have tragically lost their lives to abortion since this 1973 decision, and Roe v. Wade belongs on the ash heap of history."

"While I celebrate the possibility of Roe v. Wade being overturned, the fact that a highly sensitive Supreme Court document was leaked sets a very dangerous precedent and has serious implications for the Court. I fear this was done with political motivations to intimidate justices to alter the outcome of the case," said Congressman Jeff Duncan. "There must be a thorough investigation to determine who leaked this highly sensitive document from the highest court in the land. I humbly ask for the country to pray that the Justices will uphold the words written in the publicly-released draft and will not allow these tactics to sway the Court's decision."
