Chairman Neal Marks Earth Day

Statement

Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement in observance of Earth Day:

"Our children and grandchildren's future depends on the choices we make today to protect our planet. Last year, the Committee advanced historic clean energy tax provisions that would combat the threat of climate change and incentivize the use of green energy technologies. Ways and Means Democrats fought hard to secure enforceable environmental commitments in the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, provisions that are enhancing our efforts to combat harmful practices and protect vulnerable wildlife. And over the past few weeks, I've issued a Request for Information to two dozen health care organizations as part of the Committee's ongoing work to examine and address the health care industry's impact on the climate crisis.

"These examples of Ways and Means Democrats' work to defend the Earth illustrate both how far-reaching the climate emergency is and how plentiful the opportunities are to combat its intensification. Our Committee will continue to place climate protection at the center of our policymaking because Democrats understand the gravity of this issue and the responsibility we bear to confront it."
