HOEVEN STATEMENT AFTER VOTING FOR RESOLUTION TO STOP BIDEN ADMINISTRATION RULE PROVIDING FEDERAL FUNDS TO ABORTION PROVIDERS

Press Release

Location: Washington, D.C.
Issues: Abortion

Senator John Hoeven today issued the following the statement after the Senate voted on a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn the Biden administration's Title X Family Planning Program final rule, which reversed the Trump administration's 2019 ban on federal funding to entities such as Planned Parenthood that provide abortion referrals to pregnant mothers.

Hoeven cosponsored the CRA to keep in place the Trump administration's 2019 rule, which had no effect on Title X funding levels and simply redirected the funds to providers that do not perform or promote abortions.

"I helped introduce and voted for this CRA, which would ensure that taxpayer dollars are not used for abortions," said Hoeven. "While this legislation was blocked from passage, I remain committed to protecting the unborn and will continue working to stop the Biden administration's Title X rule."

The CRA is supported by the Susan B. Anthony List and National Right to Life.
