"I voted against another Democrat spending bill, because Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats have yet to learn the lesson that more spending is not the solution to rampant inflation," said Rep. Hern. "We are going in the wrong direction -- the federal government needs to start respecting the taxpayers by finding ways to actively cut spending rather than grow our deficits. Last year, I wrote the only budget in the House; this year, I'm doing it again. My budget balances in just a few years, cuts wasteful spending, and puts fiscal responsibility back at the forefront of our legislative process. We need to break the cycle of bad habits in Congress before it's too late."

Rep. Hern continued, "I voted in favor of suspending the import of Russian oil tonight, because even though the bill is not as strong as I'd like to see, it's a necessary, urgent step in the right direction. I strongly disagree with the Biden Administration's war on domestic energy suppliers, but we must begin to halt the flow of American dollars to Russia."
