Velázquez on Deadly Shooting on a Q Train in Lower Manhattan

Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) has issued the following statement in response to the tragic shooting of Daniel Enriquez on a Q train in Lower Manhattan.

"On Sunday, another life was taken too early because of senseless gun violence in our community. My heart goes out to the family, friends, and members of our community who adored Mr. Enriquez. I join the entire Park Slope community in mourning this tragic loss.

"Addressing gun violence requires a comprehensive approach that pushes forward stronger gun laws to prevent more lives lost. The House of Representatives has already taken a first step and passed meaningful gun control legislation, only to be stopped by Republicans in the Senate who continue to put guns over the lives of everyday people. In addition to pushing my colleagues in the Senate to act, I will continue to advocate for gun laws that crack down on the iron pipeline, fortify background checks, and ban tools of war from being used on our streets."
