Today, Rep. John Larson (CT-01) applauded President Biden's appointment of former U.S. Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) as a Special Advisor for the Summit of the Americas:

"Senator Dodd is a Connecticut icon and someone who I had the great pleasure of serving alongside in the U.S. Congress for over a decade. I especially came to appreciate his great knowledge and deep understanding of the complex issues facing Latin America. His dedication to public service is unparalleled, volunteering for the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic in the 1960s and going on to serve 36 years in Congress. As the world leaders of the Western Hemisphere meet this June in Los Angeles for the Summit of the Americas, Senator Dodd will be a valuable resource for President Biden and his team."

Senator Dodd and former U.S. Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell were selected by President Biden to serve as Special Advisors for the Summit of the Americas, which will take place from June 6th to June 10th in Los Angeles. Senator Dodd served in the U.S. House from 1975-1981 and the U.S. Senate from 1981-2011, where he served as Chairman of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere, Peace Corps, and Narcotics Affairs.
