Lummis Defends Second Amendment Rights of Wyoming Citizens

Citing the importance of Second Amendment rights to Wyoming people, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) joined 21 of her Republican colleagues to introduce a Congressional Review Act disapproving of the efforts by President Biden's Department of Justice to expand the definition of a firearm and implement overly burdensome rules on gun owners. The effort, led by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), garnered support from Senators John Barrasso (R-WY), James Lankford (R-OK), Mike Braun (R-IN), Mike Lee (R-UT), Steve Daines (R-MT), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Kevin Cramer (R-ND), John Thune (R-SD), Marco Rubio (R-FL), John Boozman (R-AR), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Mike Crapo (R-ID), James Risch (R-ID), James Inhofe (R-OK), and John Hoeven (R-ND), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Thom Tillis (R-NC) Mike Rounds (R-SD), and Rand Paul (R-KY).

"The executive order signed by President Biden changes the definition of a firearm to include the individual parts and components of the gun rather than solely a completed firearm. This leaves significant portions of firearm regulation up to overzealous bureaucrats," Senator Lummis said. "President Biden should not be intruding on the Second Amendment rights of citizens through executive order in the first place. The law-abiding people of Wyoming responsibly exercise their Second Amendment rights. They should not be considered criminals by bureaucrats in Washington."
