Lummis Co-sponsors Legislation to Counter Rising Prices and Empty Shelves

Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) co-sponsored Senator Mike Lee's (R-UT) SHIP IT Act to address the supply chain backlog in the freight network at U.S.

ports, and simplify or suspend certain federal regulations on ports, ships, and trucks. Empty shelves and backlogged deliveries have wreaked havoc on American citizens and their businesses. This bill focuses on streamlining the process to get products off of ships, into trucks, and onto shelves.

"Congress must find ways to relieve the pressures of the supply chain crisis on people in Wyoming," Senator Lummis said. "The SHIP IT Act would cut red tape and ease factors that are increasing prices and slowing down shipping times for goods that we need. I am pleased to work with Senator Mike Lee on this important legislation to tackle the escalating prices and empty shelves Wyoming consumers are facing."

The SHIP IT Act builds on, and expands, Senator Lee's STOP the GRINCH Act that was introduced in 2021, of which Senator Lummis was also a co-sponsor. Senator Lummis sent President Biden a letter last fall with a series of suggestions to address the supply chain crisis.
