Congressman Lamborn Reacts to Reports that Roe v. Wade Will be Overturned

Statement

Unconfirmed reports tonight from the Supreme Court indicate that a majority of Supreme Court justices are poised to overturn Roe v. Wade.

These reports may or may not be true, and even if true now there is no finality to draft opinions of the Supreme Court until they are officially published.

What this shows is that the Supreme Court, bolstered by three conservative justices nominated by President Donald Trump, is capable of showing the courage and integrity to right a historic wrong.

Roe v. Wade was poorly conceived and written, with no clear explanation of how a right to abortion was contained in a constitution that did not mention it at all. In fact, up until 1973, abortion was outlawed in almost every state for the entire history of our country.

Overturning Roe v. Wade would return the highly contentious issue of abortion back to the states for elected representatives to decide. It would not be decided by nine unelected judges.

Many people have hoped and prayed and worked mightily to defeat abortion. Returning it to the states would let at least the socially conservative states of this country regulate or prohibit it.

Congressman Lamborn introduced more pro-life legislation in his years in the Colorado General Assembly than anyone in its history. He continues to introduce and to cosponsor prolife legislation in Congress.

While the facts are still to be determined, if the U.S. Supreme Court does indeed return the issue of abortion back to the states, in those states in which life is respected multitudes of the unborn will be allowed to live.

Congressman Doug Lamborn issued the following statement:

"I pray and am hopeful that these reports are true, and the Supreme Court does the right thing. The 1973 Roe v. Wade decision was tragically wrong and has cost over 73 million unborn children their lives. I have always fought for the lives of the unborn and will never waiver in my fight."
