Today, Congressional Moldova Caucus Co-Chairs, Congressman David Price (NC-04) and Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released the following statement after the House voted to pass their resolution supporting the Republic of Moldova with overwhelming bipartisan support.

The resolution, H.Res.833, supports Moldova's democracy, independence, and territorial integrity and reaffirms the United States' support for the security and strength of Moldova, as well as our partners and allies throughout the world.

"Today, Moldova is a bright spot in the region, and we must actively support the Moldovan people in their efforts to strengthen democratic institutions, root out corruption, foster economic development, accelerate energy diversification, and safeguard the country's territorial integrity -- particularly in the face of devastating Russian military aggression in neighboring Ukraine," said Congressman David Price. "As Moldova opens its arms to hundreds of thousands fleeing Ukrainian refugees, the United States and international community must rally behind Moldova as it continues to chart its own path forward as a young and vibrant democracy."

"As Russia wages a heartbreaking war on Ukraine and further take antagonistic actions against our allies and partners, it is more imperative than ever to strengthen US-Moldova relations and cooperation. I'm proud to work with my colleagues in Congress to stand up for our Moldovan allies." said Rep. Pfluger.

House Resolution 833 expresses support for the Moldovan people in their efforts to strengthen democratic governance, root out corruption, increase economic prosperity, support energy diversification, ensure stability and security, and safeguard its territorial integrity. Additionally, it calls upon The Russian Federation to withdraw its military forces and munitions from within the internationally recognized territory of Moldova. It also reaffirms support for increased bilateral U.S.-Moldova dialogue, trade, and economic investment.
