Marching for Life

Statement

Date: Jan. 17, 2022
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Issues: Abortion

Today, Congressman Doug Lamborn joined hundreds of constituents for the Rocky Mountain March for Life. January 22, 2022, marks the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the United States, leading to the loss of over 65 million children.

During the program, Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement:

"Good Morning- and thank you so much for that kind introduction.

I want to thank you all for coming out to the Colorado Springs March for Life and combining your footsteps and your voice with thousands of other Americans in saying, every human life, which are created in the image of God, matters!

It is an honor to represent you, first in the Colorado Legislature and now in Washington D.C. As a public servant, there is no higher cause that protecting the sanctity of life.

Since my first day in Congress, I have been helping to the fight against the radical abortion agenda in Washington. Now, are attempting to abolish the historically bipartisan Hyde Amendment. Joe Biden, who once supported the Hyde Amendment is even calling for its removal. The Hyde Amendment is critical, for 44 years now, it has prevented federal taxpayer dollars from being used to finance abortions. It has saved the lives of 2.5 million children. Let me be clear- conscience rights must be protected, and your hard-earned money should never be used to fund abortions.

This Congress has been critical in protecting the life of the unborn. First, I introduced the Second Chance at Life Act, which works to combat the rising threat of chemical abortions. My legislation provides hope for babies and mothers by requiring abortion facilities to provide information about the possibility of reversing the effects of these procedures.

In addition, last month I introduced the Recognizing the Unborn Act. This legislation would humanize unborn babies by replacing the word fetus with "unborn baby" every time it appears in federal code. From conception to natural death, humanity deserves dignity and respect.

I head to Washington D.C. tomorrow, and later this week, I will be introducing the Child Tax Credit for Pregnant Moms Act with two of my colleagues. This bill humanizes unborn children by allowing pregnant mothers to collect the child tax credit for her unborn child.

Let us not forget, this is a historic time for the Supreme Court as well. Thanks to President Trump, who had the opportunity to appoint three new conservative justices, we could finally see righteousness prevail, and Roe v. Wade overturned.

God willing, we will send an end this year to the worst and bloodiest Supreme Court decision ever, Roe v. Wade.

It has been my honor to fight alongside the likes of Father Bill Carmody, Bishop Michael Sheridan, and now -- today -- local pro-life heroes like Bishop James Golka, Julie Bailey, Michelle Mason, Students for life, and each one of you.

Keep on marching! Keep on fighting! We stand here today on the side of the most important cause there is, the cause of life itself!

Thank you all. May God Bless the unborn and the oppressed. May God Bless all of you, and May God Bless America."
