Congressman Dan Kildee, Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, today applauded the passage of S. 3522, the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act. This bipartisan legislation, supported by Republicans and Democrats, would allow the U.S. to send military supplies to Ukraine more quickly. The bill, after having passed the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, now heads to the President's desk to be signed into law.

"The people of Ukraine deserve our unwavering support as they bravely defend democracy and their country against Vladimir Putin's unprovoked invasion. The Kremlin continues to commit horrific atrocities in Ukraine, indiscriminately attacking civilians. As the United States looks to continue supporting the people of Ukraine, we must have the most effective and efficient process for delivering military equipment and aid," said Congressman Kildee.

This week, the House also passed Kildee-backed legislation to punish the Russian oligarchs who have supported Putin's regime by encouraging the administration to confiscate any property--including luxury villas, yachts, and airplanes--valued over $2 million from sanctioned Russian oligarchs. Any funds gained from asset sales would then be used to benefit the Ukrainian people.

Congress has already delivered $13.6 billion in humanitarian, military and economic support for Ukraine. This aid, which Congressman Kildee supported, is being delivered regularly to Ukraine. As a result, Ukrainians have received significant U.S. shipments of the best battlefield weapons and equipment in the world, including thousands of Javelins and anti-aircraft missile systems, drones, howitzers and counter-artillery systems, military helicopters and armored vehicles, and arms and ammunition.
