Senate Vote Protects the Innocent Lives of the Unborn

Statement

Date: May 11, 2022
Issues: Abortion

Today, the U.S. Senate defeated legislation that would allow an unborn child to be aborted up until the moment of pregnancy, including partial-birth abortion. The Senate previously defeated this legislation earlier this year when it only garnered 48 votes for passage. Senate Democrats brought the bill up again this week after liberal activist organizations began a pressure campaign against Supreme Court justices who are considering a case about abortion.

"Today, the Senate voted to protect the innocent lives of the unborn and defeated an extreme bill that would allow for partial birth abortion," said Congressman John Moolenaar. "I will continue to fight Democrats' efforts to provide unlimited abortion, while supporting outstanding pregnancy resource centers that help parents raise children with the resources they need."

Moolenaar voted against this legislation when House Democrats passed the bill in September 2021.
