Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.) introduced the Help for All Servicemembers Act which would expand the current authorization of support for chaplain-led programs to include resiliency, suicide prevention, and holistic wellness. By expanding this authorization, military chaplains will be allowed to provide additional support for a larger demographic of service members.

"Military chaplains provide selfless service and support for the brave men and women who protect this nation. Their work is truly an indispensable tool for our soldiers, but current regulations prevent their programs from reaching all service members," Hartzler said. "Through the Help for All Servicemembers Act, every soldier, sailor, airmen, Marine, and guardian will be able to participate in these vital programs and receive the help and support they need."

Under current law, military chaplains are permitted to cover the cost of transportation, food, and other authorized expenses for programs that work to build and maintain a strong family structure. Unfortunately, they are prevented from paying for the cost of food and other expenses for resiliency workshops for single service members. This will change under the Help for All Servicemembers Act.
