Wagner Introduces the Gateway Solidarity Act

Congresswoman Ann Wagner, Vice Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and St. Louis native, introduced legislation today to allow the National Park Service to illuminate the St. Louis Gateway Arch in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The other seven members of the House of Representatives from Missouri joined Rep. Wagner as original co-sponsors of the legislation.

"St. Louis and the State of Missouri stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people who are being attacked by a ruthless dictator in Vladimir Putin," said Wagner. "The world is united behind Ukraine and lighting up symbols like the Gateway Arch in Ukrainian colors will send a message to our friends and allies in Europe, and across the globe, that the American people are supportive of the sovereign Ukrainian nation."

Rep. Wagner traveled with a bipartisan group of Members of Congress to Poland and the Ukrainian border last weekend to witness the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees and meet with the 82nd Airborne staged in Poland, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, NATO and European allies, and Ukrainian leaders. Wagner and the bipartisan group of Members on the trip provided oversight of the American aid being provided to the Ukrainian people and our NATO allies, while urging the Biden Administration to halt the purchase of Russian oil, an action the Administration finally took earlier today.
