Beatty Highlights the Significance of Women's History Month

Statement

Date: March 9, 2022
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Women

March is Women's History Month, a celebration and recognition of the continuing contributions and amazing achievements of women from all walks of life across the world. This year's theme is "Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope," a tribute to both the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers throughout the pandemic and a recognition of the countless ways women have healed and inspired our world.

"The importance of Women's History Month cannot be overstated. While Americans celebrate women's past victories, we cannot ignore the systemic problems that still hold women back, particularly minority women" said U.S. Congresswoman and Congressional Black Caucus Chair Joyce Beatty (OH-03). "The pandemic has exposed the deep-rooted injustices that women have faced throughout our history. House Democrats are working hard to ensure that women get their seat at the table by working to eliminate the gender pay gap, secure paid family leave for pregnant workers, and guarantee access to affordable and high quality child care."

Beatty continued, "I am blessed to serve with more than 120 female Representatives, a record number of whom hold committee leadership. This month, let us celebrate our victories and strive to not rest until we achieve gender equality and justice for all."
