Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema today released the following statement after voicing support for Federal Reserve nominees Jerome Powell, Lael Brainard, Sarah Bloom Raskin, Lisa DeNell Cook, and Philip Nathan Jefferson. The nominations failed to advance after some members of the Senate Banking Committee failed to appear at the committee markup:

"The Arizonans I hear from consistently tell me how the high prices of gas and groceries, and empty store shelves, are hurting everyday families. Our state deserves and expects action from Congress to effectively address rising inflation so Arizonans can keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets. These Federal Reserve nominees are qualified and committed to the mission of the agency, and many enjoy bipartisan support. Getting them on the job represents a crucial step to getting rising costs under control. I'm hopeful we can cut through the partisan gridlock, stop the political bickering, and move these nominations forward."

Sinema has repeatedly called on her colleagues in Congress to focus on policies proven to address rising costs, like her bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs law, which will modernize roads and ports and get products to market more quickly -- as well as bipartisan legislation boosting American manufacturing of critical components like semiconductors.

Last week, Sinema held several public discussions in Arizona focused in-part on rising costs for Arizona families -- including with Arizona farmers and ranchers, and Arizonans from the East Valley and Mesa.
