Today, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Chair of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, issued the following statement after President Biden announced the nomination of Jaime Lizárraga to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

"Congratulations to Jaime Lizárraga on his nomination to be a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Lizárraga's nomination comes at a critical time for our economy and its recovery. Mr. Lizárraga will work hand in hand with Chair Gensler and the rest of the board at a time when it's become more and more evident that the stock market is detached from the reality of working families' lives. I am confident Mr. Lizárraga will help the SEC put its focus back on the people who make this country work and push to ensure that markets protect investors and offer families the ability to accumulate wealth, save for their kids' education, a down payment on a home, and for a secure retirement," said Brown.

Brown added, "Congratulations to Mr. Uyeda on his nomination. I look forward to hearing from him about how we can better ensure investor protection and market integrity so we can finally have a financial system that works for all America."
