Rosen Statement Following President Biden's State of the Union Address

Today, Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement after attending President Biden's State of the Union address.

"I was pleased to be joined virtually by Marc Ellis for the State of the Union to hear about the progress we've made in the past year and President Biden's vision to keep our economy moving in the right direction while lowering everyday costs for hardworking families. As president of a local union in Northern Nevada, Marc represents workers who will benefit from the historic investment and thousands of good-paying jobs coming from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that I helped write and pass -- evidence of what we can accomplish when we work together," said Senator Rosen.

"We need to continue working in a bipartisan way to tackle more pressing issues facing our country. From addressing the student mental health crisis to protecting the health of our veterans to strengthening our state's travel and tourism economy, I am always working to find common ground and deliver for Nevadans. I will keep fighting in the year ahead to create more good-paying jobs and help families and small businesses across our state to afford the things they need so they can make ends meet," she added.

Senator Rosen's virtual guest for the State of the Union was Marc Ellis, President of the Communication Workers of America (CWA) Local 9413 in Northern Nevada. Federal funds for broadband deployment from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will create good-paying jobs for the union workers in Nevada whom Ellis represents.

Senator Rosen has been a bipartisan leader in the Senate, working with colleagues across the aisle to deliver for Nevadans and create good-paying, union jobs. As part of the bipartisan group of 22 Senators who negotiated and drafted the final Bipartisan Infrastructure Law last year, Senator Rosen helped write the broadband section of the bill, and she championed provisions that will support skilled union workers in the telecommunications industry and prioritize funding for responsible employers with high labor standards.
