Quigley to CNN: We Have to Protect the Skies Over Ukraine

Statement

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), co-chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, spoke with CNN's Kate Bolduan to react to the horrifying attack on a maternity and children's hospital in Mariupol, Ukraine. He called for NATO to immediately provide jets to Ukraine and establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine.

Quigley said on CNN, "I can't stomach quibbling and drawing lines when Putin has already said that the sanctions are war. We're delivering lethal aid. Do we honestly think Putin's going to draw a distinction between the javelins and stingers that are coming across, killing Russians very effectively, from jets protecting the skies above?"

Quigley also said, "At some point in time we have to ask ourselves: Who are we as a country? Why did we form NATO? Are we going to allow this to happen?"
