Location: Broome County, NY

Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) attended and spoke at the Broome Tioga BOCES 2nd Annual App Challenge Awards Dinner. The event honored and recognized the more than 40 teams and about 200 students who participated in the challenge by developing an original app. This year's theme was to create an app that solves a community problem. During the ceremony, the top five teams and students presented a commercial they made to promote their new apps. Students from Owego, Maine- Endwell, Newark Valley, Binghamton, Union Endicott, Windsor, Chenango Forks, and Susquehanna Valley participated in the challenge.

"I was honored to recognize and celebrate all the students who participated in the Broome Tioga BOCES 2nd Annual App Challenge," said Rep. Delgado. "It was great to see the unique, innovative, and community-oriented projects everyone came up with. Congratulations to all the finalists and every student who took part. I look forward to seeing this great creativity during the Congressional App Challenge later this year."

During his visit, Rep. Delgado urged students to build on their concepts and submit them to the upcoming Congressional App Challenge, a district-wide competition for students to create and submit their original apps. Teams with the winning app in each congressional district will have their app displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The mission of this challenge is to inspire and innovate efforts around STEM, coding and computer science education.

Official registration for the 2022 Congressional App Challenge will open in June.

Students who meet the eligibility requirements can pre-register for the 2022 Congressional App Challenge and start coding their apps for 2022. Pre-registered students will be automatically enrolled in the program in June.
