Rep. Delgado Votes for Bipartisan Government Funding Bill, Secures Funding for 9 Community Projects in New York's 19th District

Today, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) voted to pass H.R. 2471, legislation to fully fund the government and provide additional aid to the Ukrainian people. This bill also includes funding for nine Delgado-led community projects in New York's 19th Congressional District.

"The investments in this package address some of our nation's biggest challenges while providing much-needed support to my constituents in upstate New York," said Rep. Delgado. "With this funding we are investingin the middle class, lowering costs for working families, creating American jobs, and supporting vulnerable folks in our communities. I am particularly proud to have secured more than $3.2 million in Community Project funding in this bill that responds to some of the most pressing needs in upstate New York. These investments support our rural areas and foster economic development, making a real difference for our communities."

The legislation includes Community Project funding secured by Rep. Delgado that will directly benefit New York 19 residents across 8 counties:

Columbia County: Broadband Expansion

Amount: $829,594

Rep. Delgado-secured funding will expand broadband in the Towns of Ghent, Canaan, New Lebanon, and Austerlitz. This funding would allow more than 300 homes and businesses to be connected to high-speed broadband.

Columbia County: Village of Philmont Fire Station

Amount: $82,000

Rep. Delgado-secured funding will benefit the Village of Philmont Fire Station. Funds will allow for the purchase 12 new air packs for the Village of Philmont Fire Department and replacement the 81-year-old fire siren on the rooftop of the firehouse that does not work.

Delaware County: Child Care

Amount: $100,000

Rep. Delgado-secured funding will provide quality, safe and affordable childcare for the Central Catskill region through the M--ARK Project, Inc. in Arkville, NY.

Dutchess County: Northern Dutchess Hospital / Nuvance Health

Amount: $300,000

Rep. Delgado-secured funding will provide funding for facilities and equipment for the Northern Dutchess Hospital and Nuvance Health in Rhinebeck, NY. Funding will replace outdated patient safety and monitoring equipment in its Neugarten Birth Center and add 18 beds to a hospital in upstate New York.

Montgomery County: Law Enforcement

Amount: $25,000

Rep. Delgado-secured funding will purchase a vehicle mounted License Plate Reader System as well as a Certified Speed Radar Trailer for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Otsego County: Hartwick College

Amount: $300,000

Rep. Delgado-secured funding will benefit Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY and the Grain Innovation Center -- a testing laboratory that will become a clearing house of reputable information on the quality of grains grown in the Northeast, provide a harvest survey to help local millers and bakers enhance their products, and offer hands-on student employment opportunities to improve the quality of postsecondary education.

Schoharie County: Community Center

Amount: $75,000

Rep. Delgado-secured funding will benefit the Greater Cobleskill Community Center. Funding will evaluate the spatial and design feasibility of relocating and expanding the Village's community center and consolidating various community uses (seniors, youth after school programs, health-care clinics, scouts, and other programs) to a new community center to be built at Iorio Park in the central part of the Village.

Sullivan County: O&W Rail Trail

Amount: $1,100,000

Rep. Delgado-secured funding will support the Sullivan County O&W Rail Trail. A planned bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Neversink River will connect two existing segments of rail trail to create a contiguous 13-mile section from Mountain Dale, a hamlet in the Town of Fallsburg, to Ferndale, a hamlet in the Town of Liberty. Development of an additional on-road segment will link up with existing Liberty Rail Trail, resulting nearly 18 miles of trail through five hamlet and village centers.

Ulster County: Gun Violence Reduction Program

Amount: $430,000

Rep. Delgado-secured funding will create a SNUG gun violence reduction program in Ulster County NY at the Samadhi Center Inc in Kingston. This will help fund comprehensive "wrap-around" care to address rising gun violence and drug-related violent crime, while also helping individuals cope with addiction, homelessness, and mental health difficulties.

The government funding legislation includes significant investments to:

Help Working Families With The Cost of Living: Reduces costs by expanding child care and early learning programs to more working families, investing in America's K-12 public schools, making college more affordable, expanding access to homeownership, and bringing the promise of rural broadband to more communities
Create American Jobs: Create good-paying American jobs, putting folks to work rebuilding our infrastructure, helping small businesses grow and thrive, fostering the green energy jobs of tomorrow, and supporting high-quality job training and apprenticeship programs so every American can contribute and succeed
Support the Vulnerable: Supports the vulnerable by meeting Americans basic needs, by strengthening nutrition assistance, funding more affordable housing, and cracking down on gender-based violence

The legislation also addresses some of our nation's biggest challenges:

Protects Our National Security: Protects our national security with robust funding for defense, diplomacy and global development, a strong focus on cybersecurity, and investments in responsible border and maritime security that keeps us safe and respects the rights and dignity of migrants
Confronts the Climate Crisis: Confronts the existential threat of climate change through a renewed focus on environmental enforcement, pioneering funding for environmental justice, and historic investments in clean energy and climate science
Strengthens Public Health: Strengthens health care in America by rebuilding our public health infrastructure, investing in lifesaving biomedical research, and confronting urgent health crises, including maternal health, mental health, substance misuse, and gun violence
