Rep. Delgado Visits Dutchess County BOCES

Date: Feb. 17, 2022
Location: Poughkeepsie, NY

On Wednesday, U.S. Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) visited and toured Dutchess County BOCES. Rep. Delgado met with faculty, staff, and students and saw the progress of the capital project -- the first major capital project at Dutchess BOCES in 50 years. Rep. Delgado also discussed his bipartisan Growing Opportunities in Agriculture (GO Ag) Act as it relates to the Agriculture Program within the Career and Technical Institute at Dutchess BOCES.

"I want to thank the folks at Dutchess County BOCES for my tour of the exciting capital project and facilities today," said Rep. Delgado. "The BOCES programs in New York are critical to helping prepare upstate students for the workforce. I am committed to supporting career and technical education institutions in our district that help students develop the skills necessary to become gainfully employed."

The Dutchess County BOCES capital project was approved by residents of Dutchess County in December 2018. The $36.8 million project, expected to be completed by 2022, will provide program flexibility and allow BOCES to expand offerings. This is the first major capital project for Dutchess BOCES in 50 years.

Congressman Delgado's bipartisan Growing Opportunities in Agriculture (GO Ag) Act is a bipartisan bill that would provide resources to help local schools start agricultural education programs. Under the GO Ag Act, grants are available to secondary schools to cover startup costs, curriculum development, teacher salaries, equipment, lab costs, and more.
