U.S. Representative Charlie Crist (D-St. Petersburg) released the following statement marking the four-year anniversary of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that left 17 people dead and 17 injured:

"Four years after the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, it's still difficult to put into words the sadness, heartbreak, and loss that I feel for the Parkland community. On this solemn anniversary, I stand in solidarity with those who lost loved ones, those who were injured, and the countless families impacted by this senseless act of violence.

"But in the face of unthinkable tragedy, I'm inspired by the students who have turned their anguish into one of the most compelling student-led movements in American history. While thoughts and prayers are good, action is better.

"On this day of reflection, I reaffirm my commitment to making commonsense gun reforms a reality, so that we can save lives and make Florida, and our nation, a safer place for all."
